Meadow Cottage - A place to relax

Spring has Sprung!

Here at Meadow Cottage spring is most certainly in the air! The lawns have now had three cuts in only two weeks and are looking good and green and certainly in keeping with the Emerald Isle! The weather (always very unpredictable so near the coast) has possibly picked up a little and this was noted in the fact that we have been able to spend a little more time outside working at tidying up the garden and approach to the cottage. Over winter we had a hedge planted right along one side of the approach lane and have been busily working along the opposite side weeding, pruning, and sorting with the view to adding a strip of lawn to improve the look of the lane from wild and ragged to neat and cultivated! We also added some daffodils around the entrance posts at the top of the lane which are now fading and a few delightful little primroses just to give the entrance that welcoming look.
If you have visited our site before you will hopefully now have noticed that the majority of photographs have been replaced by more sophisticated professional looking pictures thanks to a good young friend of ours Peter Scott. Peter not only has a natural flair for photography but a great eye for detail and we were delighted when he kindly agreed to replace our own totally inadequate photographs with his own high class productions. Thank you so much Peter for your invaluable input. In fact Peter works for Sydney B Scott and Sons who run a wonderful farm shop no more than 10 minutes drive from Meadow Cottage. Look up their website from here or on our links page. If you like high quality fruit and vegetables at good value for money prices do call in and look round the new farm shop they have on the Loughanhill Ind Est, Coleraine, BT52 2NR. It is really first class!
Well the busy period of short breaks is now upon us here on the beautiful North Antrim Coast. There is plenty going on over the next few months. The annual week long North West 200 motor bike races takes place from 10 to 17 May. Here you will get the opportunity to see some of the world’s top road racing riders reach speeds of over two hundred miles and hour! This is truly a must see event for those who enjoy motorbikes and speed and best of all its all free if you watch from many of the roadside vantage points. We wish all the competitors and safe and prosperous week. Check out all the action here
Also coming our way in May (who says poetry is dead) Giro d'Italia cycle race. Once again many of the cycle world’s top riders will be taking part and it is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to see them riding around Northern Ireland’s beautiful and unique coastline. All the information required is here
So pack you suitcase book into Meadow Cottage and come north to experience great natural beauty, wonderful beaches, magnificent scenery, friendly people, wonderful healthy food, exciting events and a relaxing time at Meadow Cottage! See you soon.
