Summers Coming – We hope!
Well here we are now well past mid May and there is still little sign of the weather warming up! Sadly for the organisers and spectators, Saturdays North West 200 motorcycle racing was all but totally washed out. Maybe it could be renamed the ‘North Wet 200’ or ‘The North’s Wet 2!’ It was a shame for those who had travelled such a distance to watch the activities.
Here at Meadow Cottage we have had our first series of guests and all seemed very happy with the accommodation which encourages us. Sadly the wet and cold weather has set back our grass seeding programme substantially and our embankment that had been sown was sadly badly effected by Saturday’s torrential rain. We are being taught the very difficult art of patience.
On the wildlife front we have two pairs of beautiful Pheasants attending our garden on a daily basis which is most exciting and entertaining. We now had food out for them as well. Also this week we have noticed the first batch of young sparrows to emerge from their nests and sit rather pathetically on our fence waiting to be fed. What a marvel creation is! We are looking forward to seeing the young Pheasant chicks soon.
At this time of year our thoughts turn to holidays and we are no different. A trip to England is planned and a stay in self catering accommodation (home from home you might say). We still have limited places available at Meadow Cottage throughout July and August so if you are looking for a place to relax with a touch of class here on Antrim’s beautiful north coast please do get in touch.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
Robert & Karen.
